Cyber threat intelligence specialist SANDS Lab (KOSDAQ: 411080; CEO Kim Ki-hong) announced on the 5th that it presented its core AI technology at AVAR 2023, held in Dubai from November 28 to December 1.
Held annually since 1998, AVAR is an international conference organized by the Association of Anti Virus Asia Researchers, a nonprofit promoting antivirus cooperation in Asia-Pacific. Security experts worldwide present and discuss current technologies and issues. SANDS Lab and AhnLab attended as Korean security vendors.

On November 30, the second day of the event, AI researcher Lee Hyun-jong presented “An Efficient Approach for Automating Threat Intelligence Analysis through Similarity Detection.”
The presentation centered on SANDS Lab’s DBP (Deep Binary Profiler), an AI technology for attacker profiling through binary reverse engineering. It decomposes executable malware, separates information by function, and automatically identifies MITRE ATT&CK attack groups and techniques (T-IDs). The technology holds Korea’s New Excellent Technology (NET) certification and more than 30 registered patents, with over 10 patent applications in the United States.

DBP’s core strength is tracing newly encountered malware against historical data, identifying relationships automatically, and providing analysis with supporting evidence. This AI-based cybersecurity technology responds rapidly and efficiently without human intervention and supplies evidence for response information, preventing inaccurate analysis from causing further confusion.
At AVAR2022 in Singapore last December, SANDS Lab presented datasets built with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and AI applications. Its presentation on this technology at VB2023 in London this year also drew a strong response. These activities continue to bring Korean cybersecurity technology to global audiences.
Lee said, “I am pleased that AVAR recognized our AI technology and gave us the opportunity to present it. With growing interest overseas, we plan to showcase our AI security technology at major conferences in Korea and abroad next year.”
SANDS Lab plans to launch an AI network solution incorporating DBP before the end of the year.
