SANDS Lab Becomes First Security Company to Win AI Trustworthiness and Quality Award

SANDS Lab announced on the 24th that it won an Excellence Award at the inaugural AI Trustworthiness and Quality Awards for developing its AI-based intelligence platform malwares.com and ensuring its reliability and quality.

The Ministry of Science and ICT presents the awards to outstanding Korean AI products and services, evaluating reliability and quality, guideline compliance, management, and market potential. The program raises awareness of AI trustworthiness and promotes excellent Korean AI offerings.

SANDS Lab received the Electronic Times President’s Award, an Excellence Award, for malwares.com. Its flagship service is a leading threat intelligence offering in Korea and Asia, analyzing over 2.2 million threats daily and providing profiling through proprietary AI models.

AI is crucial to cybersecurity, where high reliability is essential. It enables accurate identification and rapid response, but unreliable AI can hinder defense. Information-based industries such as SANDS Lab’s threat intelligence business require even greater trustworthiness.

Because models trained on trusted datasets can achieve high reliability, the AI Technology Development Team worked to ensure trustworthiness from the creation of individual analysis records. It built a proprietary AI training data pipeline and platform automating data generation, analyst validation, training, revalidation, and filtering, progressively improving model reliability.

Against guidelines published by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), these processes achieved approximately 90% compliance on average and 100% for AI system operation and real-time monitoring.

Although SANDS Lab specializes in cybersecurity, its AI research team has achieved notable results. The award recognizes the achievements of a team devoted to AI within cybersecurity. It demonstrates reliability on par with specialist AI developers and successful market deployment of AI technologies requiring high trust. The recognition highlights technology comparable to dedicated AI companies.

Dr. Choi said, “Our efforts to establish trust in models built using SANDS Lab’s AI training datasets have borne fruit. We will continue researching to deliver strong cybersecurity results through AI and meet users’ trust.”

Datasets generated through the AI training data pipeline are now available through SANDS Lab’s recently launched next-generation intelligence service CTX.
