SANDS Lab earns Excellent Employee-Invention Compensation Company certification through sustained patent output

AI security firm SANDS Lab (CEO Kim Ki-hong) received Excellent Employee-Invention Compensation Company certification on the 15th.
The certification program encourages companies to adopt employee-invention systems and rewards inventors fairly to promote creative technology development among researchers, strengthening the technological competitiveness of small and mid-sized enterprises.
SANDS Lab has built up a range of AI-based security core technologies over the past several years. These technologies power its cyber threat intelligence (CTI) service and network detection and response (NDR) solution, and the company has formally had its technological competitiveness recognized through numerous patent filings and registrations in core areas such as AI-based data processing, automated malware analysis, and network-traffic threat detection.
The company, centered on its in-house research institute, is also actively pursuing R&D for next-generation cybersecurity solutions and AI-based incident-response capabilities. In particular, it developed technology to independently collect and analyze malware and other threat data and use it as training data, laying an early foundation to compete in the global market.
SANDS Lab operates an employee-invention compensation system to boost employees' sense of achievement and encourage original research. When an invention is filed or registered, it goes through objective review by an internal evaluation committee, and the inventing researchers are compensated based on the results.

According to a SANDS Lab representative, beyond being the first in the information-security field to receive NET (National New Technology) certification for two consecutive years, the company has now surpassed 200 registered and filed technology patents and copyrights in total, with overseas patents making up as much as a third of that total, reflecting its focus on securing intellectual property that can extend its influence in the global market.
